Firefighters working to contain the Crystal Fire burning in Larimer County continue to make progress today.
The fire is now 90 percent contained and has burned 2,930 acres, according to a news release from the Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team.
Thirteen structures have been destroyed in the fire.
Yesterday, crews were aided by winds that pushed the fire up the slope and up the valley. Crews began working along the northwestern perimeter of the fire.
Patches of trees, brush and grass that did not burn but are near the burn area pose a risk of re-igniting the fire. Firefighters will continue to monitor such areas for flare ups and hot spots.
Crews will also begin rehabilitating certain areas by raking berms, removing signs and creating water bars to prevent erosion. Weakened and blackened trees will be removed from public areas.
