Getting your player ready...

Pop-rockers infiltrated downtown Colorado Springs last night and, aside from starting a little later than scheduled, the only bad thing about the show was a missing Shannon Leto, brother of lead singer/pretty-boy actor Jared. The audience was told he’s pretty sick and under doctors care back in Los Angeles. Although Shannon wasn’t physically present, he was there not only in spirit, but via video conference.

Unlike most of the stops on the tour, the show was far from being sold out but you never would have guessed by the energy put out from the band (and the audience). Just about everyone was on their feet for the duration of the band’s set. Judging by the fan’s reaction, one of the best quotes from the night was Jared addressing why the band was performing in such a small market. Hi response (paraphrased): “Who fucking gives a shit?! Thanks for coming out, Colorado Springs! I love you guys!”

The fans were also treated to a preview of one of Thirty Seconds to Mars’ new songs. Jared had the audience help him sing the chorus for potential use on the record. The chorus was “Hallelujah, praise the

brave and insane. Hallelujah, blessed the crazed to remain.” Hearing the entire audience sing “hallelujah” followed by a “Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! Can I get an amen?” from Jared to get the crowd going, I couldn’t help but remember that yes, I was very much in Colorado Springs.

I’ve lived in the city going on about 20 years and the only events I recall happening at the City Auditorium are weddings, cat shows and roller derby. More rock shows, please!
