Firefighters evacuated a retirement high-rise following a report of a small fire on the sixth floor Saturday afternoon, authorities say.
No one was injured, and the fire was quickly extinguished, said Lt. Phil Champagne, Denver Fire Department spokesman.
Several people living in the seven- story complex called Heritage Retirement Club at 2020 S. Monroe St. called to report heavy smoke about 12:18 p.m., Champagne said.
The building was evacuated as a precaution, he said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Champagne said.
