A lawmaker’s attempt to put Colorado on daylight saving time year- round died Friday in a Senate committee.

“The sun just set on my bill,” said Sen. Greg Brophy, R-Wray.

The ski industry in recent weeks has mounted a full-court press to kill the measure, saying it would affect them in the mornings during their peak winter season.

But Brophy had plenty of support from others who don’t like changing their clocks in the spring and fall. Brophy pointed out that Colorado already is on daylight saving time eight months of the year. The Senate agricultural committee unanimously endorsed the bill last month. But it died 6-4 Friday in Appropriations.
