A 1-year-old boxer is recovering from emergency surgery after he swallowed almost 3 feet of a dog leash.
On Saturday, the manager of the Delux RV Park at 5520 Federal Blvd. reported a boxer abandoned and vomiting in one of the lots, according to Marita Rossmueller, founder of the HOBO Care Boxer Rescue.
Rossmueller told the woman, who is not the dog’s owner, to take the dog to the Hermosa Veterinary Clinic. The boxer, named Disco by Rossmueller, was so weak he had to be carried in.
Veterinary technician Dan Deheld said it appeared that Disco had swallowed the leash about five days before he went into surgery.
“It’s going to be a long recovery,” Deheld said.
