A 28-year-old Wellington woman is facing a felony child abuse charge in connection with a head injury reported in March and the subsequent discovery that her 2-year-old nephew had previously broken bones, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department said today.

The investigation indicated the boy’s 15-month-old brother also had previous fractures.

Jamie Whittington, the boy’s caregiver, is being held on $200,000 bond in the Larimer County on a felony charge of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury and a misdemeanor child abuse charge.

Whittington turned herself in at the jail this morning, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department said this afternoon.

The 2-year-old boy remains at The Children’s Hospital in Aurora in stable condition.
