Northbound Interstate 25 was closed for several hours this morning at milemarker 248 near Mead, after a semitrailer hauling several pick-up trucks collided with another vehicle and flipped on its side.

Crews worked throughout the morning to clear the scene, but the process was slow because of the size of the semitrailer and the multiple vehicles involved, Colorado State Patrol said.

Cpl. Eric Wynn of the state patrol said the crash happened just before 5 a.m. The interstate was reopened by 9 a.m.

The driver of the semi was taken to Northern Colorado Medical Center with unknown injuries, Wynn said. The driver of the pick-up was not injured.
