Saturday’s rave at the was a fall down the rabbit hole, complete with jester-like costumed characters, whirling figures twirling radiant orbs, pungent wafts of exotic smoke and clusters of guests floating in a chemically-induced alternate reality. The Shpongletron Experience produced an onslaught of throbbing bass punches with electronic gurgles, wooshes and morphs while psychedelic imagery flashed on the protruding screen edges of the innovative “Shpongletron Tower.” The king of the castle (DJ/brainchild Simon Posford) swayed atop the tower, constantly twiddling knobs and lovingly looking out over the sea of loyal subjects below who were dancing under a vibrant sky of streaking laser beams. This was a royal trip, to be sure.
