BROOMFIELD — Two former students of Travis Masse testified at his sexual assault trial this morning that he repeatedly sent them sexually-themed text messages while he was a coach and teacher at Broomfield High School.
One student said she ignored his messages while the other — a senior at Broomfield High — said she began responding to his messages while attending her father’s wedding in Texas in 2009. In one message, Masse asked her if she wanted to be involved in a “three-some.”
Both young woman testified the 29-year-old Masse did not touch them sexually.
Masse is facing two sexual assault charges related to his alleged involvement with a then-17-year-old student at Broomfield High. That young woman testified Tuesday that she had several sexual encounters with Masse during the 2008-2009 school year.
The current Broomfield High student said while at her dad’s wedding in Texas, she refused his texting advances four times before she agreed. She told jurors that Masse asked her for a nude photo of herself and she sent him a photo of herself in a sports bra and boy shorts.
She testified she and Masse exchanged 362 text messages during that weekend in Texas.
After the wedding, she noticed a change: “I noticed I didn’t have to work so hard in class,” she said.
She is involved in a second trial for Masse scheduled in May. He faces a charge of attempted unlawful sexual contact with a child, also a felony.
The prosecution is scheduled to rest this afternoon.
