Colorado State men’s basketball coach Tim Miles has released Javon Dawson from his scholarship. Dawson will follow DeMarlo Slocum, Miles’ longtime assistant, to the Utah Utes.
Dawson, a 6-foot-7, 260-pound forward, had the option of staying another year at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Fla., if Miles didn’t grant the release. Miles said he saw no benefit in denying the release if Dawson didn’t want to be at CSU. Miles also isn’t holding a grudge against Slocum.
“All recruits are fair game,” Miles said Monday. “I’d never let a kid come between a friendship.” Natalie Meisler, The Denver Post
