A large rockslide closed Woody Creek Road between Woody Creek and Lenado on Monday afternoon.
The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the slide, at approximately mile post 6, shortly before 5 p.m.
The county’s Road and Bridge Department was notified and, after a deputy confirmed the road was impassable, a St. Anthony’s Flight for Life helicopter was put on standby in case of a medical emergency beyond the road closure. The Aspen Fire Department was also notified and a Mountain Rescue Aspen team was put on standby, as well.
The road crew was able to partially clear the road by 7:45 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office.
