A fatal traffic crash on I-25 that killed a 12-year-old may be alcohol-related, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The single-vehicle rollover happened about 7 p.m. Sunday on I-25 about three miles north of Pueblo, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The driver of the 2000 Ford F-150 pickup truck and an adult passenger were injured in the crash.
Michele Meastas, 39, the driver, was thrown from the truck and suffered serious injuries, the state patrol said. Reynaldo Perez, 49, was not thrown and suffered moderate injuries. Both were taken to Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo.
The 12-year-old was partially ejected from the truck.
None of the three in the pickup were using seat belts.
The Ford was northbound when it ran off the western side of the highway and the driver over-steered to the right, causing the truck to rotate clockwise. The truck rolled one and one-quarter times, coming to rest in the center median.
Investigators believe alcohol played a role in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
