ASPEN, Colo.—An Aspen resident has withdrawn her request for a recount in the city’s recent mayoral election after a postelection audit revealed no inconsistencies.
Marilyn Marks had questioned the preliminary results of the election, saying there might have been errors with the computer-analyzed ballot system. She said she would pay the estimated $1,000 for a recount.
The Aspen Times reports Marks was present as the standard postelection audit was conducted Tuesday. She then withdrew her recount request, saying the preliminary results were accurate.
Incumbent Mayor Mick Ireland won re-election with 50.7 percent of the vote. He got two votes more than what was needed to avoid a June runoff election against second-place finisher Ruth Kruger.
Marks ran against Ireland in 2009 but lost.
