Douglas County-based CH2M Hill on Wednesday said it has purchased Booz Allen Hamilton’s state and local government transportation consulting business — a “nationally recognized consultant to transit and rail agencies.”
The $28.5 million acquisition will bring about 150 Booz Allen professionals — each with an average of 22 years of experience — to CH2M Hill.
“We are excited to welcome the transit and rail professionals from Booz Allen Hamilton’s (state and local) transportation business to the CH2M Hill family,” said Garry Higdem, CH2M Hill’s transportation president.
CH2M Hill spokesman John Corsi said the 150 Booz Allen employees will continue to work in McLean, Va., where Booz Allen is based; Boston; New York; Newark, N.J.; Baltimore; and San Francisco.
CH2M Hill has offices in those cities, Corsi said.
For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2010, Booz Allen’s state and local transportation business accounted for about $50 million in annual revenue.
Once the deal closes — likely in the third quarter — Booz Allen will begin to assign its current state and local contracts to CH2M Hill.
Booz Allen is divesting itself of the state and local consulting business so it can “better align its contract portfolio with the company’s federal business.”
Booz Allen said it has a large and growing federal transportation business with numerous federal agencies.
CH2M Hill’s work is concentrated in the areas of water, transportation, environment, energy facilities and resources. It reports $6.3 billion in revenue and has 23,000 employees.
