LOVELAND — Classes resumed this morning at an elementary school in Loveland after more than 50 people were taken to the hospital Tuesday after reporting they felt dizzy and nauseous.
The Loveland Reporter-Herald says that 47 children and five adults went to hospitals to be checked out Tuesday.
Several reported feeling nauseous and dizzy at Winona Elementary School.
Firefighters searched the school early this morning, and all tests came back negative, said Merlin Green, spokesman for Loveland Fire and Rescue.
The Thompson School District said that officials will continue to monitor the air in the school throug out the day, but the building is considered safe, according to a new release.
Twenty years ago 130 people, mostly children, at the school were treated for dizziness and runny eyes after smelling an unusual odor. The odor continued to be a problem during the school year and in the spring of 1992, officials determined it was most likely caused by mold in the duct work. The entire system was replaced.
