Looking ahead
THURSDAY: Mets at Rockies, 1:10 p.m., Root
The Rockies have lost the last eight games started by Ubaldo Jimenez (0-2, 5.88 ERA), evidence of his struggles as well as a lack of run support. Against the Giants last Friday, the right-hander looked like himself. His velocity was consistent and his command improved. Jimenez needs to be more efficient early in the game, particularly the first frame, and establish his sinker. In his only previous start at Coors Field, Jon Niese (1-4, 4.71) surrendered five runs in five innings. Todd Helton (6-for-13) and Troy Tulowitzki (5-for-10) have enjoyed success against the left-hander.
