PESHAWAR, Pakistan — Police said two explosions today killed at least 68 people and wounded dozens more at a paramilitary training center in northwestern Pakistan.
The attack in Charsadda district was the bloodiest since U.S. forces killed al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan, on May 2. Militant groups have promised to avenge the terrorist leader’s death.
At least one of the blasts at the gate of the center was caused by a suicide bomber. Senior police official Liaquat Ali Khan said most of the dead were recruits at the Frontier Constabulary training site.
