DENVER—The fight over how to redraw Colorado’s congressional districts is headed to court.
State lawmakers failed to reach agreement on the issue during the Legislative session and state Republican and Democrats went ahead and filed redistricting lawsuits Tuesday—the day before the session’s final day.
Republican attorney Richard Westfall said a decision is needed soon because of deadlines for the 2012 congressional elections.
The judge could look at current maps or order new maps be drawn.
A decade ago, the process took seven years, ending with an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
