Aurora City Councilman Ryan Frazier announced Thursday that he is running for mayor, the fifth candidate in the race to succeed term-limited Ed Tauer.

In a video announcement and news release, Frazier said he would work to create jobs, improve education and enhance public safety if he is elected in November.

“In the weeks and months ahead, I am going to work hard to earn your confidence and support,” he said. “Aurora is ready to go to the next level — an Aurora you can be proud of.”

In November, Frazier lost the race for the 7th Congressional District seat to Democrat Ed Perlmutter.

Others running for mayor of Aurora include former City Councilman Steve Hogan, former state Rep. Debbie Stafford, psychotherapist Sheilah Thomas Davis and Jude Sandvall, former chairman of Aurora’s Business Advisory Board.
