FORT COLLINS — A former Colorado teacher convicted of having sexual contact with a high school student is in jail for allegedly violating her probation.

Carrie Day McCandless was being held at the Larimer County jail Friday afternoon after her arrest this week. The Coloradoan newspaper reported that police arrested McCandless because her probation was revoked after she tested positive for morphine.

The 35-year-old former Brighton high school teacher pleaded guilty in 2007 to unlawful sexual conduct and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Prosecutors said McCandless and the student were intimate during a class trip to Estes Park.
