Police arrested a man accused of shooting at couple Thursday while they were driving in their car in southern El Paso County.
At 6:20 p.m., police received a 911 call from a 48-year-old woman, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman reported that she and her husband saw a pickup driving on their property near Boca Raton Heights and Colorado Boulevard. The driver cursed at them and drove away when the two told him he was not allowed on the property.
Later, as the two, who have not been identified, were leaving their property they spotted the same truck.
As the truck passed the couple’s car, the driver leaned out of his window and fired one shot from a handgun, hitting the front bumper, she said.
The pickup then chased the victims north on Interstate 25 for a short time before exiting. The couple was able to see and record the man’s license plate number.
The license plate number lead police to a residence in the 21000 block of Boca Chica Heights. There police found the truck in a gully, covered with a tarp with its license plates removed.
Deputies then spotted the man inside the home but he refused to answer the door.
A SWAT team was called and surrounded the home.
Shortly after 28-year-old Michael Duncan walked out of the home and was arrested. Duncan was released from jail after posting a $50,000 bond.
He faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and menacing.
