FORT CARSON, Colo.—Fort Carson is bidding a formal farewell to about 3,500 soldiers who are deploying to Afghanistan over the next several weeks.
A color-casing ceremony is scheduled for the 2nd Brigade Combat Team on Tuesday at the post outside Colorado Springs. The brigade’s flag or colors will be ceremonially put into a case for shipment to Afghanistan.
The deployment is expected to last for a year.
