Michael Aldaz, who is the prime suspect in a Mother’s Day shooting in south Colorado Springs, turned himself in Monday morning, said Sgt. Mike Schaller, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer.
Aldaz, 19, is being charged with criminal intent-first degree murder and reckless endangerment.
According to the arrest warrant issued for Aldaz on May 9, the shooting occurred about 3 p.m. May 8 at 4308 Ericson Drive.
Two men were standing on a sidewalk arguing, witnesses told deputies, when one of them pulled out a gun and fired three times, hitting the victim in one of his calves.
The victim, 31, was taken to Memorial Hospital. His wound was not life-threatening.
