A 59-year-old former corrections officer has been sentenced to probation for a sex crime.
Arthur Frank Stafford, of Sterling, was sentenced Monday in Golden to three years of “intensive supervision sex offender probation” after pleading guilty to attempted sexual assault of a child, according to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.
Sterling was arrested in December after several weeks of communicating with someone he believed to be an under-age girl and then showing up at Wheat Ridge hotel to have sex with the girl, the DA’s office said in a media release.
The under-aged teen was actually an undercover Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office investigator.
On May 7 Stafford pleaded guilty to the felony.
