DENVER—A 19-year-old man accused of shooting and paralyzing a girl outside a suburban Denver school has been ordered to stand trial.

The Denver Post reports that an Arapahoe County judge decided Tuesday that there’s enough evidence to try Luis Guzman-Rincon on 16 charges in the shooting outside Aurora Central High School in December.

Authorities believe that 16-year-old Karina Vargas was the unintended victim of gang warfare. She was talking with friends outside the school when she was shot.

Guzman-Rincon is being held in the Arapahoe County jail on $100,000 bond. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has put a hold on the suspect, who is believed to be in the country illegally.
