FEDERAL HEIGHTS, Colo.—Managers of a suburban mobile home park face a hearing for what state regulators say is the discriminatory practice of towing the vehicles of residents of Mexican descent while leaving other vehicles alone.
The Colorado Civil Rights Division said Wednesday that managers of the Kimberly Hills Mobile Home Park in Federal Heights are accused of towing the vehicles, often with no notice in the middle of the night, and imposing costly impound fees on residents of Mexican descent. The Civil Rights Commission says an investigation showed that other residents were allowed to have inoperable vehicles on the property indefinitely.
Park managers didn’t immediately return a call after business hours Wednesday.
A hearing on the complaint is scheduled before an administrative law judge Aug. 29.
