A police officer suspected of buying child pornography has now been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting several children.
Joshua Carrier, a seven-year veteran of the Colorado Springs Police Department, was booked into the El Paso County jail on suspicion of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, the department said Thursday.
He is being held in lieu of $500,000 bond.
Police suspected Carrier bought child pornography from a website and he was arrested on May 11 after a detective found child pornography DVDs next to his bed and pictures of nude children on his personal laptop.
At the time, police did not have any evidence that he acted improperly with the multitude of children he worked with while a Colorado Springs police officer.
