Two men were seriously injured Friday afternoon in Jefferson County when a truck smashed into them while they were sitting on a bench in a playground on South Nelson Circle near the Whisper Creek Apartments.
West Metro Fire and Rescue crews had to free one man who was pinned between playground equipment and a landscaping truck. Both men, identified as Robert Husak, 19, and Matthew Maccord, 20, were transported to hospitals, Husak by helicopter, with multiple traumatic injuries, officials said.
The driver of the truck, 28-year-old Sebastian Kowzan, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The Colorado State Patrol said Kowzan was driving east on South Nelson Circle when he failed to complete a left turn and ran off the right side of the road, crashing into the playground.
