COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A Colorado Springs police officer accused of sexually exploiting children has been suspended without pay. The Gazette reports that officer Joshua Carrier was suspended Tuesday, the same day he was charged with 10 felony counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

Carrier is being held in the El Paso County jail on $500,000 bond. He’s scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

The seven-year member of the Colorado Springs department was a volunteer coach and school resource officer at Horace Mann Middle School. He was arrested last week on charges of sex assault on a child under 15.

Authorities say Carrier was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of buying child pornography from a website. Since then, police say they became aware of evidence suggesting he had sexual contact with children.
