DENVER—Metro State trustees say they’ve approved a nearly 23 percent increase in tuition for the next school year.
Officials say the board of trustees at Metropolitan State College of Denver unanimously backed a tuition increase of $351 per semester, or 22.6 percent, for resident undergraduate students taking 15 credit hours.
The increases will begin in the fall.
Officials say about $7 million in state funding reductions and high student enrollment have resulted in the tuition increases. They say they are not funded at appropriate levels by the state.
The additional fees will go toward faculty promotions, new faculty positions and student scholarships among other things.
The University of Colorado has approved raising tuition on the Boulder campus and Colorado State University is weighing an increase.
