A 20-year-old Boulder man fell and tumbled into a rocky area while backcountry skiing a little after noon today in the Indian Peaks Wilderness area west of Ward and required evacuation by a Flight for Life helicopter, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials from that agency identified the skier as Cameron Eibl and said “he appeared to have non-life threatening injuries to his pelvis and leg.”
Members of the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and Indian Peaks Fire Protection District were able to get to Eibl after his rescue beacon was activated, the Sheriff’s Office said. Two friends who had been skiing with Eibl also called for help, officials added.
Eibl was airlifted to St. Anthony Central Hospital about 3 p.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office. He was treated there and was released this evening.
