FORT COLLINS, Colo.—The condition of a Colorado State University student wounded in what police say was a random drive-by shooting has improved.
A hospital spokesman tells The Coloradoan in Fort Collins that 22-year-old Jamie Warfield was upgraded Tuesday to fair condition from critical.
Police say Warfield was shot while walking with several friends in downtown Fort Collins early Monday morning. They say a vehicle approached the group at a slow speed and fired.
One of Warfield’s friends says the group was returning home after celebrating a friend’s 21st birthday. She says they were steps away from her apartment when Warfield was shot.
Police say the vehicle has been described as a truck or SUV.
