ISLAMABAD — At least 20 suspected militants were killed in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal region Wednesday in what were described as a pair of American drone strikes, local news media reported. The strikes hit a fortresslike compound suspected of housing militants in the Shawal area of North Waziristan. A second strike from the drone also hit a vehicle, according to reports. There was no official confirmation on the number of casualties.
