Furthur, the jam band featuring Phil Lesh and Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead, will return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre to help close out the summer concert season. The group’s Sept. 30 and Oct. 1-2 concerts are essentially Grateful Dead sets, although band mates Jeff Chimenti (RatDog), Joe Russo (Trey Anastasio), John Kadlecik (Dark Star Orchestra) and vocalists Sunshine Becker and Jeff Pehrson add their own spin to the well-worn tunes. TV on the Radio, the critically acclaimed Brooklyn art rockers, will return to Denver for a pair of shows Sept. 20-21 at the Ogden Theatre. The band canceled its April 26 show there in the wake of bassist Gerard Smith’s death from lung cancer, and previously held tickets should be refunded at the point of purchase. Passes for the newly announced concerts, with Broken Social Scene, are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($35, Ticketmaster)
Blink-182, My Chemical Romance and Rancid are, as reported last week, headlining Channel 93.3’s Big Gig on Sept. 4 at Comfort Dental Amphitheatre, and tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($19-$63, Ticketmaster)
Bright Eyes isn’t spending much time away from the Front Range. The band, led by Omaha indie-folk idol Conor Oberst, just played the Fillmore Auditorium on Sunday. Now it’s returning for an Aug. 9 show at the Boulder Theater to promote new album “The People’s Key.” Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($30-$35, )
Poco, the country-rock band founded in the wake of Buffalo Springfield’s dissolution in 1968, will play Hudson Gardens and Event Center in Littleton to celebrate Independence Day, featuring founding member Rusty Young. Tickets for the July 4 show are on sale ($10-$21). Also coming up at the venue: Firefall (Sunday), Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (June 19), the Guess Who (July 3), Richard Marx (Aug. 14) and Peter Frampton (Aug. 21), among many others.
