A decorated Colorado Springs police officer has been arrested on charges of attempting to influence a public servant, a Class 4 felony.
Officer Sydney Huffman, 24, is on paid administrative leave.
Last year, Huffman accused a former Manitou Springs police officer of assault, saying she was a victim of domestic violence. The officer, Jarrott Martinez, was acquitted of charges in that case after a February trial.
On Friday, prosecutors said Huffman is suspected of misleading investigators as the alleged victim in an unspecified domestic-violence case, although they did not specifically link this case to Huffman’s previous allegations against Martinez.
Huffman earned the department’s Distinguished Service Award in 2009.
She was being held in the El Paso County jail Friday in lieu of a $20,000 bond. The Denver Post
