The Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre christened its $5 million, 296-seat theater in the heart of Grand Lake on Friday night with Disney’s popular Broadway musical “Beauty and the Beast.”

The new 12,000-square-foot complex will increase seating capacity for the company by 73 percent – badly needed for a company that has averaged 96 percent capacity over the past five seasons. In a town of just 450 residents, and with more than 600 individual contributors, “it is a remarkable achievement,” says managing director Scott Haden.
