DENVER—The news agency run by China’s ruling Communist Party is considering using Denver as a U.S. base for its English-language news channel.

The Denver Post reports six Chinese officials representing the CNC World channel visited Colorado on Sunday and Monday. They met separately with Gov. John Hickenlooper, Denver Mayor-elect Michael Hancock and representatives of Dish Network.

David Thomson of Colorado’s Office of Economic Development and International Trade says the Chinese officials are looking for a U.S. base to have a production facility and studio for CNC World. Hancock says the Chinese officials told him a production facility and studio could employ as many as 300.

Thomson says the Chinese delegation also was visiting New York and at least one other U.S. city.
