A baby bongo at Boston’s Franklin Park Zoo has been given an appropriate name: Stanley. The animal was born Wednesday at the zoo and given its name one day later in honor of the Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins. Zoo officials said the name Stanley just seemed right — and no matter that the calf is a girl. Officials apparently did not consider “Buongo” for the newborn in appreciation of Vancouver Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo, who gave up 18 goals in the last five games of the Finals. Bongos are large antelopes native to the lowland rain forests of equatorial Africa. Denver Post wire services; Denver Post file photo
