The parents of 3-month-old Sanai Pitts were formally charged today with child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, a decision that allows authorities to hold the couple, but could change once autopsy results determine how the baby died.
Calvin Pitts, 28, and Amanda Deleon, 21, were arrested last weekend after the baby boy died inside their apartment at 2692 South Federal Blvd. Saturday morning.
Prosecutors said today that more charges are “likely once the autopsy results and other investigative work is completed.”
Denver police earlier said they found “evidence of pain,” inflicted on the child.
Pitts and Deleon are in the Denver County Jail on $50,000 each.
Both have been arrested several times previously, including on drug charges.
