The 89th Greeley Stampede opens today at Island Grove Regional Park.

The event, which runs through July 4, began as a summer celebration of the local potato crop.

It has since become “The World’s Largest 4th of July Rodeo & Western Celebration,” according to organizers.

The event includes professional rodeos, a carnival, a parade, concerts, a demolition derby, Independence Day fireworks, the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show, Swampmaster’s Gator Show and other attractions.

General admission is $5 for teens and adults, $2 for children 12 and younger, and free to people older than 61 who have a Stampede coupon.

Concert tickets range in prices from $22 to $29.

Parking is $10.
