Colorado Springs police officer Sydney Huffman was charged with six counts of attempting to influence a public servant, a class 4 felony, in 4th Judicial District Court on Wednesday morning.

Prosecutor Amy Fitch said more charges, including domestic violence, may be filed. Huffman is scheduled to appear in court Aug 3.

Huffman’s arrest stems from allegations that she lied when she claimed her ex-boyfriend and former Manitou Springs police officer Jarrott Martinez attacked her June 9, 2010. Martinez was acquitted of the charges in February.

Huffman had claimed that Martinez met her in a parking lot off Woodmen Road. She said Martinez strangled her after trying to persuade Huffman not to testify against him in over a restraining order. Martinez’s attorney argued in February that his client never went to the parking lot that night, stating that Huffman lied about the meeting.
