Police cited a driver in the crash that sent one woman to the hospital and closed westbound Sixth Avenue in Lakewood for two hours Tuesday afternoon.

Shortly after noon, a woman in her 70s stepped out of her car when it stalled in the right-hand lane. A passing vehicle hit the woman, who was airlifted to St. Anthony’s Hospital.

On Wednesday, police cited the driver who hit the woman with careless driving resulting in injury, said Steve Davis, spokesman for the Lakewood Police Department.

The woman had several serious injuries but she is expected to survive, Davis said.

The name of the woman and the driver who was ticketed have not been released.
