A Firestone man who kidnapped his wife after he threatened to shoot her in front of their children was sentenced 20 years in prison today.
In May, Jerad Massey, 38, was convicted of second-degree kidnapping, aggravated motor vehicle theft and felony menacing in connection with the June 2010 abduction.
Massey told his wife, whom he was divorcing, that he wanted to say goodbye to his children before he moved to the mountains.
Instead, he kidnapped her at gunpoint, though she later managed to get out of the car and run away, prosecutors said.
Records show that in December Massey violated a restraining order issued in connection with the June incident, but the charge was later dropped.
