Mileage Plus will be the loyalty program beginning in 2012 for United and Continental airlines, United Continental Holdings Inc. announced today.
“Moving to a single loyalty program is a significant milestone in the integration of the two airlines,” according to an airline statement. United agreed last year to buy Continental for $3 billion.
Continental’s OnePass frequent-flier program will end on Dec. 31. Those members will be automatically enrolled in Mileage Plus and their Continental award miles will be deposited into their Mileage Plus accounts.
United and Continental customers who are enrolled in both loyalty programs may link their accounts so they can combine miles and earn awards faster this year.
United officials said more details of the Mileage Plus program will be announced in the coming months.
