COLORADO SPRINGS — Authorities say scammers have bilked an elderly Colorado Springs man out of $130,000 over two years.

Police said Saturday the scammers convinced the man he had won $1 million and two cars but had to send money in order to collect his winnings.

Colorado Springs police Sgt. Chuck Potter said the scammers called repeatedly to demand more money.

Police say a convenience store clerk alerted officers that the man was buying thousands of dollars worth of transferable money cards. The man’s name hasn’t been released.
