A 59-year-old Highlands Ranch man has been arrested on suspicion of multiple counts of sexual assault of a child.

Roger Charette was arrested by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, according to a media release from the sheriff.

Charette is being held at the Douglas County Jail in lieu of a $250,000 bond.

The suspect is a prior convicted sex offender, according to the sheriff’s office. Charette pleaded guilty in 1984 to attempted sexual assault on a child in Aurora.

The sheriff’s office said there were three victims — girls under the age of 10 — in the 1984 case.

The current investigation began last month and an arrest warrant was signed Friday.

Charette is being held on suspicion of sexual assault on a child and habitual sex offender against children, among other counts, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing.

The sheriff’s office asks that anyone with information on any additional possible victims call Det. Dea Aragon at 303 814-7131.
