A man was tased and a police officer hurt early Thursday after several fights erupted outside Cowboy’s nightclub in downtown Colorado Springs.

One officer noticed a fight outside the club, 25 N. Tejon St., at about 1:45 a.m. Thursday and called for assistance.

Several people tried to restrain Quasim Johnson, 22, who was yelling profanities at officers and inciting the crowd, police said.

Johnson tried to attack a detective and then, when an attempt was made to arrest him, he turned to attack another officer.

During the scuffle Johnson grabbed Officer Jason Newton’s hand with enough force to dislocate one of the officer’s fingers.

Johnson was tased and arrested. He was charged with second-degree assault on a police officer, third-degree assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Others involved in the fight also were arrested for misdemeanor offenses
