The deputy superintendent of Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming was named today as the new superintendent of the National Mall and Memorial Parks.

Robert Vogel for the past four years oversaw all park operations at Grand Teton National Park where he directly supervised the park’s division chiefs and their respective programs. He was ultimately responsible for a 150-person permanent staff, 250 seasonal employees and about 125 volunteers.

He also had primary oversight for Grand Teton’s $13-million budget.

A 30-year National Parks employee, Vogel begins his duties in Washington, D.C. on July 27.

In his new role in Washington, Vogel will oversee a $31-million budget and a staff of more than 300.
