A 17-year-old from Toronto, in town for an athletic camp, died after collapsing during a basketball game in the Aspen High School gym Monday afternoon.
Officials received a call about 2:55 p.m. saying Quinn Issiah Everring was “semi-conscious” in the upstairs gym. Bystanders in the gym began CPR while paramedics from Aspen Ambulance, officers from the Aspen Police Department and deputies from the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office traveled to the scene.
Paramedics took Everring to Aspen Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:12 p.m.
The Pitkin County Coroners Office is investigating the cause of death.
