COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The Disabled American Veterans center in Colorado Springs that serves hundreds of veterans weekly is expected to close at the end of the month.

Veterans tell KOAA-TV that they haven’t been able to get much information about the closure, set for July 29. The station reports that Colorado DAV officials announced the closure, but didn’t return calls Monday.

Veterans tell KOAA that when the office closes, they will have to make the 140-mile round trip to Lakewood for help in filing paperwork with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Carlos Fisher says he recently had back surgery and has symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, and will have to rely on his wife or volunteers to drive him to Lakewood.
